In the United States, porcelain veneers cost between $900 and $2,500 per tooth, and composite veneers between $250 and $1,500 per tooth.13 Dental insurance rarely covers them because they are considered cosmetic, so you usually pay for them yourself.12

Here is what moves that number, how long the process takes in the US, and what changes when you get your veneers in Santo Domingo with Dr. Daniel.

How much do veneers cost in the US?

Cost per tooth in the USHow long they last
Porcelain veneers$900 – $2,50017 – 20 years14
Composite veneers$250 – $1,50035 – 7 years12

Prices change with the city, the dentist and your case. Some practices charge up to $5,000 per porcelain veneer.4 Healthline, citing the American Dental Association, gives $925 to $2,500 per porcelain veneer.2

In a 2020 survey of the American Dental Association, the average price of a resin veneer on one front tooth was $1,013.10.3

Does dental insurance cover veneers?

Usually not. Veneers are considered cosmetic, so most dental plans don’t pay for them, and neither do Medicare or Medicaid.14 A plan may cover part of the cost if the treatment is medically necessary, so it is worth asking your insurer.4

If you’d rather pay over time, patients in the United States and Puerto Rico can finance their treatment with Dr. Daniel through HEVA. HEVA reviews your application and decides the approval and the number of months.

What determines the cost of veneers?

Five things move the number the most:

  • The material. Porcelain costs more than composite, and it lasts longer.1
  • Where they are made. Veneers made in a lab cost more, because the lab’s fees are added to the price.34
  • Where you live. A practice in an expensive city charges more.23
  • The dentist and your case. The dentist’s experience and the amount of work your teeth need change the price.24
  • How many teeth. A full smile is several veneers, not one.

How much does a full set of veneers cost?

Multiply the price per tooth by the number of teeth. If your smile needs 8 porcelain veneers, the US range gives $7,200 to $20,000 (8 × $900 and 8 × $2,500).1

How many veneers you need depends on your smile, and only a dentist who sees your case can tell you.

Porcelain or composite: does the price difference matter?

It does, because you are also paying for time. Composite veneers usually last 5 to 7 years.12 Porcelain veneers last longer: estimates go from 7 to 10 years up to 20 years with proper care.124

With Dr. Daniel, porcelain veneers are IPS e.max porcelain, layered by hand at the lab, and made to last up to 20 years with proper care. Composite veneers are layered or monolithic. In your call, his team tells you which one fits your teeth.

How long does it take to get veneers in the US?

Usually three visits: one consultation and two more to make and place the veneers. In between, the lab takes 2 to 4 weeks.1

Before your veneers are made, you try your new smile on and see it in the mirror.

Why do US patients travel for veneers?

Every year, millions of US residents travel to another country for medical care, and dental care is one of the most common treatments.5 The CDC names three reasons: cost, care from a clinician who shares their culture and language, and treatments that aren’t available at home.5

The CDC also gives clear advice: check the qualifications of the clinician, bring your medical records, make sure you can get follow-up care in the US, and get copies of all your records before you fly home.5 This is how that works with Dr. Daniel:

  • His license is public. Exequátur No. 227327, granted by Executive Decree No. 100-19, with his name on the decree’s list of dentists.6 You can see each of his documents on his credentials page.
  • Your full price comes first. You get it in writing in your free call, before you book a flight.
  • Your records go home with you. Ask, and we give you your full clinical records, with the exact material used and the design of your case.
  • Follow-up for life. Dr. Daniel follows up with you online, and a dentist where you live can follow your case with your records.

What is included with Dr. Daniel?

Your price includes your evaluation, X-rays, a cleaning, the smile try-in before your veneers are made, and the video consultation before your trip. We also arrange your airport pickup, a hotel near the clinic and your transfers.

If Dr. Daniel sees you need something else, he tells you what it is and what it costs first.
